The Dhaka-to-Chattogram road march under the banner "Anti-Imperialist Patriotic People" continued on Saturday with a rally in Feni before heading toward its final destination in Chattogram.
The movement, launched to protect national assets and sovereignty, is being carried out with four major demands, including halting foreign control over Chattogram Port and rejecting the proposed humanitarian corridor for Rakhine.
Earlier in the morning, a brief rally was held in front of the central Shaheed Minar in Feni, where Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) General Secretary Ruhin Hossain Prince addressed the gathering.
He emphasized that the Chattogram Port is a vital national asset and a lifeline for the country’s economy.
He urged the interim government to refrain from leasing the port to foreign companies, continuing the controversial initiatives of the previous administration.
"If the government backs away from these actions, this road march can conclude without further escalation. Otherwise, we will announce larger movement plans from the final rally in Chattogram," Prince warned.
Other speakers included leaders from leftist political parties such as Bazlur Rashid Firoz (BASAD), Masud Rana (BASAD-Marxist), and Sajjad Zahir Chandan (CPB Presidium), among others.
The Feni rally was presided over by CPB Feni District President Advocate Bimal Shil and conducted by left alliance coordinator Jasim Uddin.
The road march began Friday from Dhaka’s National Press Club, protesting foreign involvement in managing Chattogram Port, the proposed Rakhine corridor, and the launch of Starlink’s internet service, which organizers claim may entangle Bangladesh in global military conflicts.
Over 600 leaders and activists from more than 50a social, cultural, and political organizations are participating in the march. The procession reached Feni late Friday night after stopovers and brief rallies in Sonargaon and Cumilla.
On Saturday morning, the second day began with a rally at Hazarir Road in Feni, followed by a procession through key city streets. Participants held placards reading slogans such as “No foreign hand over our motherland and rivers,” and “Cancel all unequal and anti-national deals.”
The march is set to hold brief stops in Mirsarai and the A.K. Khan area before concluding with a final rally in front of Chattogram Customs House at 5:00 PM.
